Nearly 1 million public employees join KRG’s payroll digitization program
ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government said Wednesday that nearly one million public sector employees have registered in the “My Account” payroll digitization program, with Erbil residents showing the highest participation among the region’s governorates.
According to a government statement, more than 900,000 employees are now enrolled in the system, which aims to modernize financial services and expand digital salary access through licensed banks.
By governorate, the figures show 401,815 registered in Erbil, 278,630 in Sulaymaniyah, and 220,155 in Duhok, for a total of 900,600.
The government said over 465,000 employees currently receive salaries digitally through a network of nearly 450 ATMs across the Kurdistan Region, while thousands remain in the testing phase.
Launched in September 2023, the My Account program is designed to promote financial inclusion by digitizing payroll for more than one million public employees. It guarantees each participant a checking account with access to debit cards, payday notifications, and ATM withdrawals.
