Fire damages multiple warehouses near Sulaymaniyah, injures seven
SULAYMANIYAH — A large fire broke out early Monday at a group of warehouses along the Sulaymaniyah–Arbat road, injuring seven people and damaging at least six buildings, according to civil defense officials.
Firefighting teams brought the blaze under control after nearly five hours, though cooling operations continued into the afternoon.
Saman Nader, head of Sulaymaniyah’s emergency rescue unit, told 964media that six individuals were treated for smoke inhalation and one civil defense worker sustained burn injuries.
A 964media reporter at the scene said the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but multiple warehouses were affected. Officials said the buildings were used for various purposes.
“Ten teams participated in the effort. The fire has been controlled, and cooling operations are underway,” said Aram Ali, spokesperson for the Sulaymaniyah civil defense directorate.
No fatalities were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
