Iraqi basketball federation appoints Zakho coach for Asian championships

ZAKHO, January 13– Zakho’s basketball coach, Milan Nisij, has assumed the role of head coach for the Iraqi basketball team, set to compete in the upcoming Asian Championships.

The Iraqi Basketball Federation (IBF) extended an invitation to Coach Nisij. As disclosed by Zakho basketball’s board of directors, the coach’s initial contract spans a month and a half, with discussions underway for a potential extension to a two-year term.

Jutiyar Ali, the assistant coach at Zakho basketball club, informed 964media that “the decision to appoint Coach Nisij was influenced by his commendable performance, having secured several titles for Zakho basketball club in the past two years.”

Coach Nisij is not the sole representative from Zakho, as two other players from the club have also received invitations to join the Iraqi national team. Murad Ali, one of these selected players, expressed confidence in their coach’s ability and emphasized the team’s determination to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming tournament.
