Surveillance and patrols to increase

KRG border guards seize 3 kilograms of gold at Iranian frontier

ERBIL, December 27 — Border guards in the Kurdistan Region reported the seizure of a cache of gold on Tuesday, amounting to three kilograms.

The commander of the First Brigade of the border guards announced that a suspect had been apprehended and that the seized gold was handed over to relevant authorities.

The incident follows a series of arrests earlier this week at the same border crossing, where 13 individuals were detained for attempting to smuggle various goods into the Kurdistan Region.

The border guard units said they were committed to preventing smuggled goods from entering the region from neighboring Iran, emphasizing that surveillance and patrols would be stepped up.
