Rocket Attack on PMF Facility in Babil Stirs Panic, Causes Casualties and Damage

BABIL, December 26 – Eyewitness Imad Mohammed in Babil provided an account of the morning’s bombing incident that targeted facilities associated with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). The attack, involving multiple rockets, struck an oxygen plant located in a residential neighborhood in the city of Hilla. The onslaught led to substantial material damage in the vicinity, including the burning of four cars, and incited widespread panic among the residents.

While security forces have yet to issue a statement on the Hilla bombing, the government has released a condemnation of the violent act. The official statement disclosed the tragic outcome of the attack: one PMF member lost their life, and 18 others sustained injuries. The statement also highlighted the detrimental impact of such actions on efforts towards peaceful dialogue and understanding.

This incident in Babil follows closely on the heels of another significant attack, this time targeting the U.S. coalition base at Erbil Airport. According to Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, the Erbil attack resulted in injuries to three American military personnel, with one in a critical condition.
