Iraqi government to extend subsidies to exporters

ERBIL, December 25 — In a bid to promote and safeguard domestic products, the Iraqi government has announced subsidies for companies involved in exporting agricultural and other domestic goods. The initiative is expected to include exporters from the Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Trade and Industry engaged in discussions with the Iraqi Ministry of Trade on Sunday to deliberate a project aimed at bolstering the protection of domestic products.

According to a statement released after the meeting, officials are focusing on the development of domestic products and marketing strategies. Factory owners and companies in the region involved in exporting domestic products were central to the discussions, with an emphasis on deriving benefits from financial subsidies.

Recent exports from the Kurdistan Region have included various agricultural products, particularly pomegranates, apples, honey, and rice.
