Group faces challenge to displaying Kurdish flag

Kurdish theater troupe clinches a gold award at Tunisian festival

ERBIL, December 21– Kurdish theater group Lare won the prestigious gold award, beating out 43 other performances, at the fifth edition of a street theater festival in Tunisia’s Kaf province.

Actor Rizgar Faqe shared the success of their play titled “I am Awake,” which delves into the consequences of drug use.

Highlighting an initial challenge faced by the group, Faqe revealed, “Initially, there was resistance to including the Kurdistan flag among the flags of participating nations.”

“In response, we conveyed our refusal to perform unless our flag was displayed, prompting a resolution to the matter,” he concluded.
