Sulaymaniyah Museum unveils renovations and new artifacts

SULAYMANIYAH, December 13 — Following nearly two months of renovations, the Sulaymaniyah Museum has readied itself to welcome tourists and showcase a myriad of previously undisplayed artifacts.

The refurbishment included an artistic transformation of the museum lobby, the introduction of new light fixtures, and the installation of air-conditioning systems.

“The museum is now open, allowing citizens to witness its revitalized state, appreciate the displayed objects and relics, and explore some previously undisclosed artifacts,” remarked the museum’s director.

Established on July 14, 1961, by Rafiq Fathullah in the Aqari neighborhood, the museum later relocated to Salim Street in 1979 and currently houses approximately 60,000 archaeological pieces.
