Clear skies forecast across Iraq through Sunday with temperatures up to 44°C

BAGHDAD — Clear skies are forecast across Iraq through Sunday, with temperatures steady in the north and edging up gradually in central and southern regions over the period.

On Thursday, highs will reach 34°C in Duhok and Sulaymaniyah, 36°C in Erbil, 37°C in Nineveh, 38°C in Kirkuk and Anbar, 40°C in Baghdad, Salah al-Din and Karbala, 41°C in Diyala, Najaf, Babil and Diwaniyah, 42°C in Wasit and Muthanna, 43°C in Maysan and Dhi Qar, and 44°C in Basra. Friday will see similar temperatures across the country.

By Saturday temperatures will begin edging up in the north while remaining steady in central and southern regions. On Sunday the slight rise shifts south, with central and southern areas seeing marginally higher readings while the north holds steady. Winds will be moderate throughout the period.
