Judiciary chief, president stress need to form government within constitutional deadline
BAGHDAD — Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan met Monday with President Nizar Amedi to discuss the importance of completing government formation within the constitutional deadline, alongside other legal issues.
Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi was nominated on April 27 and submitted his government program to Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi on Thursday. He faces a constitutional deadline at the end of May to present his cabinet to parliament for a confidence vote. The chamber has been arranged for the session, though no official date has been announced.
