Police arrest two women for stealing gold jewelry from shops in Dhi Qar

DHI QAR — Police in Dhi Qar governorate arrested two women Sunday accused of stealing gold jewelry from shops in separate incidents, including 90 gold rings from a shop in Souq al-Shyoukh and 135 gold items in al-Shatra district.

The Dhi Qar anti-crime directorate said the suspects were identified and detained “in record time” following investigations and security information. They confessed to both thefts, with statements formally recorded and a site reconstruction conducted. An investigative judge ordered their detention under Article 444 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
