Rain expected in central, northern Iraq through the week
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s weather Tuesday will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of light to moderate rain in central and northern areas that could become heavier in parts of the northeast, forecasters said.
Temperatures will be close to Monday’s levels in central and northern areas and dip slightly in the south. Winds will be southeasterly at 10 to 20 kph, becoming more active in the evening — especially in eastern areas — reaching up to 45 kph and raising dust in desert regions.
Visibility is expected at 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 4 to 6 kilometers in haze and dust.
Wednesday will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate rain in the north, particularly mountainous areas. Winds will be light and variable at 5 to 10 kph. Temperatures will rise slightly in central Iraq, hold steady in the north and fall slightly in the south.
Thursday will be partly cloudy to cloudy in central and northern areas with light to moderate rain in the north, while the south will be clear with some clouds. Temperatures will dip slightly in central and southern areas and rise slightly in the north.
Friday will be partly cloudy to cloudy in central and northern areas with a chance of light rain in eastern sections, while the south will be clear to partly cloudy. Southeasterly winds are expected at 10 to 20 kph.
Saturday will bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions in central and northern areas with light to moderate rain in the north and parts of central Iraq. The south will remain clear to partly cloudy. Winds will start southeasterly at 10 to 20 kph before shifting to northwesterly at 20 to 30 kph, becoming active up to 40 kph and raising dust in some areas.
