Baqubah dental clinics cut travel to Baghdad with same-day implants, 3D printing
BAQUBAH — Modern dental clinics in Baqubah are reducing the need for residents to travel to Baghdad for implants, using advanced 3D imaging and printing that allow patients to leave with temporary teeth the same day.
Clinics along al-Tabu Street have begun importing 3D printers that enable rapid fabrication of temporary dental sets. Romal Clinic also offers installment payments for up to 18 months.
The process begins with assessing bone condition using 3D imaging to determine readiness for screw placement, a step that takes about 15 minutes. Temporary teeth are fitted about three hours later using an in-clinic printer. Patients then resume normal activities while bone integrates with the implant, typically over three months.
Mohammed Zaher, director of Romal Clinic and an implant specialist, told 964media that patients were previously hesitant to visit dental clinics, but that has changed.
“Today, thanks to what we publish on social media about dental implants and the types of implants, people are more reassured because they come to the clinic already equipped with a lot of information,” he said.
Zaher said the clinic previously relied on bridges and removable dentures, but implants have proven better. “Each tooth is responsible for itself without harming other teeth,” he said.
The clinic uses fillings from Switzerland, Italy and Germany licensed by the Health Ministry and operates digital scanners alongside 3D printers. Installment payments are available through the Rafidain platform for bank card holders.
Dentist Amir Ali told 964media that error rates are “almost nonexistent” due to the advanced equipment.
Dental fabrication specialist Noor Ahmed said 3D printers have shortened the process, with most patients completing procedures the same day, about three hours after impressions are taken.
