Baghdad municipality enhances green spaces with opening of three new parks

BAGHDAD, November 12 — A statement from the Baghdad Municipality announced the opening of three new parks next to Al-Rusafa as part of a campaign to increase green spaces, responding to the directives of the Prime Minister. The parks cover a total area of approximately 3.952 acres.

The statement received by Network 964 reads:

“The municipal departments continue to implement the campaign initiated by Baghdad Mayor Engineer Amar Musa Kazem, aiming to increase green areas and transform vacant and empty spaces into parks and lush gardens, serving as relaxation and entertainment spots for Baghdad families, in response to the directives of the Prime Minister.

Al-Ghadeer Municipality opened the Jasmine Park, with an area of approximately 1.739 acres, after completing its rehabilitation, maintenance of fountains, installation of children’s play equipment, lighting columns, and terraces, making it one of the most beautiful parks next to Al-Rusafa.

Al-Sadr Municipality also opened Al-Aqsa Park, covering an area of approximately 1.488 acres, at the entrance of Al-Sadr City from the canal side, transforming the area from abandoned and debris-filled spaces into one of the most beautiful parks. It includes green spaces, lighting works, decorative landscaping, relaxation areas, terraces, and children’s play equipment.

Al-Shaab Municipality also opened the Or Park, with an area of approximately 0.742 acres, divided into two sections: one dedicated to children’s play equipment and the other a park featuring green spaces, trees, a fountain, lighting installations, seating terraces, and relaxation areas.”
