Head of Samarra pharmaceutical company detained for unlawful approvals

SALAH AL-DIN, November 9 — The Integrity Commission announced on Thursday the detention of the General Manager of the General Company for Pharmaceutical Industries in Samarra for granting approvals for the introduction of materials contrary to the law.

The Commission, as reported by Network 964, revealed the arrest of the current General Manager of the Pharmaceutical Industries Company in Samarra based on the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code.

The Commission’s investigations department, discussing the details of the case it examined and referred to the judiciary, reported that the Second Al-Karkh Investigation Court issued an order to detain the current General Manager of the Pharmaceutical Industries Company in Samarra.

It added that after the accused surrendered himself and was presented to the competent investigative judge, the latter ordered his detention pending investigation, stating that the accused gave approvals for the entry of materials into the company’s warehouses without prior purchase requests.

The department further explained that the investigations in the case revealed that the approvals given by the accused were before the organization of contracts and the issuance of the referral decision for these materials, contrary to the law and established procedures.
