Iraq forecast to stay cloudy Saturday as storms, mountain snow hit Kurdistan Region
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology said Saturday that cloudy weather will persist nationwide, with light to moderate rain expected in the Kurdistan Region and heavier rain later in the evening accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, along with snowfall on mountain peaks.
In its weather bulletin, the authority said temperatures in central and southern Iraq will be similar to Friday’s readings, while temperatures are expected to decline in northern areas.
Winds will be southeasterly and light to moderate at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with intermittent increases in central and northern regions, the bulletin said.
Horizontal visibility is forecast at 6 to 8 kilometers, falling during morning haze to 3 to 5 kilometers and to 1 to 2 kilometers in areas with heavier rainfall.
