Clear skies across Iraq with dense morning fog expected in south

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Saturday will bring generally clear weather across most of the country, with scattered clouds in some areas and cloudier conditions in the south, where dense morning fog is expected to reduce visibility.

The authority forecast that temperatures will be close to Friday’s levels in central and northern areas, with a slight increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the south. Conditions will remain cold during the day and turn very cold overnight and in early morning hours, it said.

Winds are expected to be northwesterly and light to moderate at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with periods of calm and variable winds in northern and eastern areas.

Visibility is forecast at 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 kilometers in haze. In fog-affected areas, visibility may fall below 1 kilometer before improving toward noon.
