Interior Ministry denies job openings amid online claims
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi Interior Ministry on Sunday denied the existence of any current job openings, refuting claims circulating on social media and warning the public against unofficial employment advertisements.
In a statement, the ministry said, “The Iraqi Interior Ministry denies what is being circulated on some pages and social media sites regarding announcements or links to apply for jobs within the ministry.”
The ministry emphasized that any official job opportunities “will be announced exclusively through the official website of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and its approved platforms.”
It further clarified that “there are no other authorized links or entities to receive application requests.”
The ministry urged citizens to “beware of fake pages and misleading news” and to avoid dealing with any unofficial announcements or links “to protect their personal information.”
In September, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Ahmed al-Asadi said his ministry has reduced the unemployment rate by three percentage points. He said the jobless rate dropped from 16.5% to 13.5% during his tenure, citing loan programs and initiatives for graduates.
