Iraq sees fog, rain, and slight temperature rise in the south

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s meteorological authority forecasted fog and scattered rainfall across the country on Saturday, with weather patterns varying by region.

The General Meteorological Authority said skies would be partly to fully cloudy, with light to moderate showers expected in the Kurdistan Region. Some areas could experience heavier rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

In central and southern regions, light rain was expected in scattered areas during the day, transitioning to clear weather at night, beginning in western parts of the country.

Moderate to dense fog formed in many areas during morning hours, with visibility improving before noon.

Temperatures were expected to rise slightly in central and southern Iraq compared to Friday, while remaining stable in the north. Winds were forecasted to be variable and occasionally calm, shifting at times to light-to-moderate northwesterly at 10–20 km/h.

Visibility was reduced to 3–5 km in areas with heavy rain and dropped below 1 km in fog-affected regions, but was expected to improve by midday.
