Iraq’s national security advisor: government committed to digital transformation
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji said Thursday that the government is determined to shift toward electronic applications, citing improved security and stability as foundations for adopting digital governance.
Speaking at the second edition of the Iraqi Digital Space Forum in Baghdad, Al-Araji said, “The government is committed to this transformation in a way that serves our country and our people and places Iraq among the nations that have advanced in this field.”
The forum focused on digital governance, identity systems, e-payment infrastructure, and data integration to boost the efficiency of public services.
Al-Araji opened the event by congratulating Iraqis on the eighth anniversary of the victory over ISIS, noting that the country has “turned a harsh and dark page” thanks to sacrifices by security forces and national unity.
He added that Iraq is “prepared to activate digital space” and deliver services more efficiently by drawing on local and international expertise. “Some Iraqi ministries have already made progress and implemented digital tools in practice,” he said.
The forum included representatives from Iraqi ministries, the Central Bank, chambers of commerce, the Communications and Media Commission, and international tech companies.
