Iraq to see unstable weather, rain and dense fog over next three days
BAGHDAD — Iraq will see unsettled weather over the next three days, with cloudy skies, scattered rainfall, dense fog and declining visibility across much of the country, the Meteorological Authority said.
The agency said a wave of moist clouds is moving in, keeping skies partly to fully cloudy in most regions and bringing a chance of thunderstorms, particularly over the Kurdistan Region and eastern areas.
Wind patterns are expected to shift between northwesterly and southeasterly, with a slight drop in temperatures through the period. The authority warned that fog could become dense in some cities, reducing visibility to less than one kilometer and affecting road traffic.
For Wednesday, the forecast calls for partly to fully cloudy conditions nationwide, with light to moderate rain in eastern regions during the morning, at times turning heavy with thunder and lightning. Rainfall is expected to ease by evening, remaining light to moderate in northeastern areas.
Medium to dense fog is predicted over parts of the northern and central regions in the morning. Temperatures will be slightly lower than on Tuesday.
Winds on Wednesday will be mainly northwesterly at 10 to 20 km/h, while northern and eastern areas will see light and mostly calm, variable winds.
Horizontal visibility is expected to range from 3 to 5 kilometers due to haze and humidity, dropping to 2 to 3 kilometers in areas of heavy rain and to below 1 kilometer in fog-prone locations.
