Urging caution, Soran authorities warn of heavy rain

SORAN — The Civil Defense Directorate in Soran, Erbil, has issued a warning about heavy rain and potential floods and called on residents to avoid unnecessary travel to mountainous areas in the coming days.

A statement from the directorate cited regional meteorological forecasts predicting heavy rainfall.

“According to forecasts, a powerful rainstorm is expected in the coming days. We urge residents of the Soran Autonomous Administration to refrain from visiting mountainous areas unless necessary and to stay away from riverbeds,” the statement said.

The directorate advised the public to call emergency in case of any incidents. Forecasts indicate the rainfall will begin in the mountains by Saturday evening and extend across all regions of Kurdistan by Sunday.

The Soran Autonomous Administration includes six districts, 13 subdistricts, and roughly 800 villages.
