'Distinguished step'

Kirkuk hosts first job fair with 50 companies offering youth contracts

KIRKUK – Kirkuk held its first-ever job fair on Tuesday, with 50 companies from various sectors offering around 200 job opportunities to local youth, organizers said.

The event, which targeted recent graduates and job seekers, also provided free CV preparation. Organizers said they would submit the CVs directly to participating companies, which are expected to contact qualified candidates for one-year contracts.

Zainab Hussein, one of the event organizers, told 964media: “We are currently at the job fair, which is being held for the first time in Kirkuk. This initiative is an important and distinguished step.”

Hussein said each participating company represents a different field, and visitors can choose from ready-made CV templates provided at the event. “All you need to do is select the CV suitable for the company you are interested in, and they will contact you if you are qualified to work with them,” she said. Training programs, some possibly free of charge, were also available.

Manwlia Adel, a representative from Al-Najma Company, told 964media: “Fifty companies have provided job opportunities for youth today, and we expect that more than 100 to 200 young people will get jobs, God willing. No one will be left without work.”

Adel said her company provides workforce services across Iraq through annual contracts and covers the staffing needs of clients. “Our employees are from Africa and Asia, and we need local youth to assist with coordination and translation, which is why we are participating in this event,” she said.
