KRG orders internet providers to block unauthorized streaming of beIN Sports channels
ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has instructed internet companies to block the unauthorized online streaming of beIN Sports channels, after finding that some local IPTV services were broadcasting the network’s content without permission.
In a notice dated Nov. 17, 2025, the General Directorate of Post and Communications told providers they have one month to stop access to the illegally streamed channels. The ministry said the directive aims to prevent violations of intellectual property and broadcasting rights.
Officials said any channel wishing to stream beIN Sports must do so only through the company’s authorized distributor, in accordance with KRG laws.
beIN Sports holds regional broadcasting rights for major international competitions. While many local channels in the Kurdistan Region have avoided airing the network’s matches due to legal restrictions, some have continued using its commentary and footage without approval.
The network provides its own licensed set-top boxes and internet-based receivers, and maintains an official presence in Iraq through branches and authorized dealers in Erbil.
beIN Sports subscriptions in Iraq include the Premium package at $18 per month and the Ultimate tier at $34 per month, which offers the full slate of sports coverage.
