Iraqi Drilling Company completes work on 53 oil wells in Q3 2025

BAGHDAD – The Iraqi Drilling Company said Thursday it completed drilling and rehabilitation work on 53 oil wells during the third quarter of 2025, in cooperation with both national and international partners.

“In implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, and under the supervision of the Deputy Minister for Extraction Affairs, the technical and engineering staff of the Iraqi Drilling Company completed the drilling and rehabilitation of 53 oil wells during the third quarter of this year, for the benefit of national extraction companies and international companies operating in Iraq,” the company said in a statement.

Company Director General Hassan Mohammed Hassan said “the continuous efforts of the company’s staff resulted in drilling 15 new oil wells in addition to rehabilitating 38 other wells,” adding that “these results reflect the efficiency and expertise of the national staff and their commitment to implementing the Ministry of Oil’s plans aimed at increasing production and strengthening the national economy.”

He said the company “continues to develop its technical and engineering capabilities by adopting the latest technologies and through fruitful cooperation with international companies, which enhances the Iraqi Drilling Company’s position as a key pillar in the oil extraction sector.”

The drilling update comes as Iraq’s oil exports rise. The State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) said Sunday that total exports in August exceeded 3.493 million barrels per day, the majority shipped from Basra in southern Iraq. The shipments generated over $7.16 billion in revenue, according to SOMO.

Exports are expected to increase to 3.65 million barrels per day in September following the resumption of crude shipments from the Kurdistan Region’s oil fields on Saturday for the first time in more than two years.
