Steady autumn temperatures expected through week as summer heat ebbs
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Monday that temperatures will remain steady in the thirties Celsius across the country, with stable autumn-like weather expected through the end of the week.
The authority reported mostly clear skies, with scattered clouds over northern and southern areas and slight chances of rain in far northeastern regions. Winds will vary in direction, blowing at 20–30 kilometers per hour in central and southern areas, occasionally stirring dust, while lighter winds are expected in the north.
Daytime visibility is forecast at 8–10 kilometers, dropping to 5–7 kilometers in dusty areas before improving by evening.
Forecast maps show highs of 34–36 degrees in Baghdad, Diyala, Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Karbala. Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar are expected to reach 38–39, while Erbil and Duhok will hover around 31–32, and Sulaymaniyah at 30.
The authority said autumn conditions will continue through Friday, with little change in temperatures across most governorates.
