Body of missing man found in Sarchinar garage

SULAYMANIYAH — Authorities in Sulaymaniyah on Wednesday recovered the body of a man believed to have been homeless and missing for more than two weeks, after it was discovered inside a garage in the Sarchinar neighborhood.

Police said the body belonged to a Kurdish man in his 60s who had reportedly been missing for about 15 days. Witnesses told 964media that relatives had been searching for him during that time.

Emergency teams transferred the body to the Sulaymaniyah forensic department for examination. It will be returned to the family once the autopsy is complete.

A local health official said the man was found in an area known for motorcycle repair garages and showed signs of having been dead for several days. “The reason for death has not yet been determined and an investigation has started,” the official said.

Police did not comment on whether foul play was suspected.
