Two killed, two injured after car explodes in Zakho
ZAKHO — Two young men were killed early Thursday when their gas-powered vehicle exploded in Zakho, Duhok, as they prepared to leave for work, local officials said.
Jamal Hassan, head of Zakho Civil Defense, said the blast occurred around 7 a.m. as the victims attempted to start the parked car. Both were members of the Bastke community in the Batel subdistrict.
Hassan said preliminary information indicates the vehicle had been converted to run on LPG, though the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
Haitham Abdi, from Duhok Emergency Hospital, told 964media the two victims were killed instantly, their bodies severely dismembered. Two others sustained serious injuries and remain under medical supervision in Duhok.
