Father of three, 25-year-old man die from separate electrocution incidents

NEWSROOM — Two men died in separate electrocution incidents Tuesday night, one in Duhok Governorate and the other in Kirkuk, according to relatives, friends, and health officials who spoke to 964media.

A 25-year-old man died after suffering severe injuries from electrocution in Banke village, within the Batifa district of Duhok Governorate.

The victim, Saadi Dilshad, was electrocuted while preparing tourist spots in the village, relatives and friends told 964media. They transported him first to Batifa Hospital, which they said was closed, and then to Zakho Emergency Hospital. His condition worsened during the transfer, and he later died.

Amir Ali, spokesperson for Zakho Health Directorate, told 964media, “Doctors did what was necessary, but unfortunately, due to the severity of the injuries, he lost his life.”

Zakho police said they have opened an investigation into the incident.

In another electricity-related incident, a generator worker in Kirkuk died after being electrocuted while switching power from a neighborhood generator to the national grid.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Shaho Burhan, was the father of three children. He had worked for several years maintaining generators in the Shoraw neighborhood.

Ahmed Adnan, a friend of Burhan, told 964media, “Unfortunately, last night while changing the power supply from the generator to the national grid, Shaho was electrocuted and died instantly.”

Burhan’s body was taken to Azadi Hospital in Kirkuk before being transferred to the forensic medicine department. On Wednesday morning, his body handed over to his family.
