Federal police arrest kidnapping gang, rescue hostage in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, October 29 — The Federal Police announced on Sunday the arrest of a kidnapping gang composed of three individuals and the rescue of a hostage in the Nahrawan area east of Baghdad.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior, received by Network 964, quoted Interior Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Mekdad Miri as saying:

“A force from the Second Brigade of the First Division of the Federal Police, in cooperation with intelligence units of the brigade, arrested a kidnapping gang consisting of three suspects and rescued a hostage. The arrest operation came after receiving information about a kidnapping incident in the Nahrawan area, east of Baghdad.

Following this, a joint security team was formed, and after cordoning off the area and setting up temporary checkpoints, monitoring their movements through surveillance cameras led to their swift capture. The suspects were subsequently referred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary investigative and legal procedures against them.”
