Digital art workshop held in Al-Suwaira district as demand booms

WASIT — A digital art workshop focusing on caricature and comics was held at the Al-Suwaira Youth Forum Hall in Wasit. The event, organized by the Iraqi Cartoon House in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth, aimed to teach participants the basics of digital cartooning and develop their skills.

The workshop was supervised by Iraqi cartoonist Nasser Ibrahim, who told 964media, “The workshop…  aims to teach digital drawing, specifically caricature and comics.”

He stated that this is the second workshop they have held in Wasit’s Al-Suwaira district, adding that they “will soon announce other workshops” in several governorates.

Ibrahim added that interest in caricature art is high and often exceeds the capacity of available workshops. The most recent session drew 10 trainees of various age groups.

He also expressed optimism about the future of digital caricature art in Iraq, predicting the rise of what he described as a “revolution” in this genre using tablet devices.
