Electrician dies while working during outage in Khanaqin

KHANAQIN — An electrician was killed Tuesday after being electrocuted while working on a housing project in Khanaqin during a power outage, local health officials said.

Dr. Shwan Shakir, director of Khanaqin General Hospital, told 964media that the man was already deceased when brought to the hospital. “The body was received earlier today and has since been transferred to Baqubah General Hospital for forensic examination,” Shakir said.

The victim, born in 1995, was a Khanaqin resident and had reportedly been employed at the construction site for some time.

The fatality follows a similar incident earlier this week in Kirkuk Governorate, where a 23-year-old electrician died after being electrocuted while on the job in the village of Topzawa, part of the Yaychi subdistrict, according to local sources.
