Iraq completes first phase of electrical connection to Jordan, plans link to Egypt

BAGHDAD, October 26 — The Ministry of Electricity announced on Thursday that it had completed the first phase of a project to establish power connecting Iraq and Jordan in order to supply electricity to western Anbar.

The first phase of the project will provide 50 megawatts of electricity, with the city of Rutba in Anbar set to receive power supply next month. The second phase will provide western regions with a capacity of 350 megawatts.

The third phase aims to establish an electrical link between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt.

Power purchase agreements for electricity via the projects have been established based on international prices.
