Two injured in Akre village power generator explosion
DUHOK — Two workers were injured Monday night when a private generator exploded in the village of Gawilane in Akre district, according to local health officials.
“At approximately 10:15 p.m. in the village of Gawilane, within the Akre district, two workers were injured while refueling the village generator. About 15% of their bodies were burned,” said Nechirvan Fakhreddin, spokesperson for Akre’s health department.
He said the injured included a 17-year-old and a 38-year-old. “Due to the absence of a specialized burns hospital in Akre, both workers were transferred to Duhok governorate for treatment,” he added.
The incident came a week after a similar explosion in Bardasur village in Bardarash district killed a 30-year-old worker while refueling a generator. The man died at the scene.
