Toddler killed after being struck by uncle’s vehicle in Kapanak village

TAQTAQ — A one-year-old boy was killed Monday after being accidentally struck by his uncle’s vehicle in the village of Kapanak, near Taqtaq district, according to local medical officials.

Abdullah Jasem, a physician at Taqtaq General Hospital, told 964media the child died instantly. “In the village of Kapanak, a child was run over by his uncle’s vehicle and died instantly,” Jasem said.

He added that the driver was unaware the child was in the vehicle’s path. After initial medical procedures were performed, the child’s body was transferred to the forensic medicine department in Koya.

The family is originally from Fallujah and currently resides in Kapanak. Authorities have detained the driver as part of the investigation.
