Motorcyclist killed in crash with car on Sirwan-Halabja road
HALABJA — A man was killed in a traffic accident early Sunday involving a motorcycle and a passenger car on the Sirwan-Halabja Road, according to local traffic police.
Akam Qutbaddin, spokesperson for Halabja Traffic Directorate, told 964media, “Early this morning, a traffic accident occurred between a motorcycle and a Hyundai Tucson on the Sirwan-Halabja road. The motorcyclist died at the scene. He was a resident of Sharazoor.”
Authorities have opened an investigation into the crash. The driver of the car has been detained by court order.
The driver, a teacher, was on his way to work from Halabja city to Sirwan sub-district when the crash occurred. The victim, a farmer, was heading to his farmland at the time of the collision.
