Border guard killed, three injured in crash near Zakho

ZAKHO — A border guard was killed and three others were injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicle overturned in the Derkar subdistrict of Zakho, near the Kurdistan Region’s border with Turkey, health officials said.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in Dashtatakh village, according to authorities.

Amir Ali, spokesperson for the Zakho Health Directorate, told 964media that the injured were transported to Zakho Emergency Hospital and are receiving necessary treatment. The body of the deceased was sent for forensic examination.
