Iraq’s water project in Diwaniyah reaches 61% completion

DIWANIYAH, October 17 — The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Public Municipalities announced on Tuesday that it has achieved a 61% completion rate for the Shamiya Water Project in Diwaniyah. This project is expected to provide safe drinking water to over 300,000 residents in the Shamiya district, as well as the Salahiyah subdistrict and surrounding villages.

The project is supervised by the General Directorate of Water within the Ministry and covers an area of 20 acres. It consists of two sites with a production capacity of up to 4,000 cubic meters per hour. The completion rate of the project has reached 61% after finishing civil works in the service facilities and receiving 17 pumps from international sources. Additionally, approximately 2,000 meters of the conveying line to the Salahiyah pumping station have been completed.
