Expired chicken liver seized in Chamchamal market inspection
CHAMCHAMAL — A joint committee from the Chamchamal district administration in Sulaymaniyah Governorate conducted a market inspection Tuesday, seizing expired and unsafe food items, according to local authorities.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of 33 portions of chicken liver deemed unfit for consumption. In a statement, the district administration said the livers had been prepared by several street vendors for sale.
The committee warned food vendors to comply with health and safety regulations and said legal action, including fines, will be taken against those selling spoiled or expired products.
Authorities across Sulaymaniyah have stepped up inspections since the start of Ramadan, frequently seizing unsafe food items and referring violators for legal action.
On March 17, officials confiscated more than 300 kilograms of expired yogurt that was being sold during Ramadan. Earlier this month, authorities seized 60 tons of expired frozen meat in Sulaymaniyah that had also been marked for sale during Ramadan.
