Qaladze police crack down on disruptive motorcycles, unlicensed weapons
QALADZE — Police in Qaladze, located in the Sulaymaniyah governorate, launched a campaign Sunday targeting disruptive motorcycles, unlicensed firearms, and vehicles in violation of traffic regulations. The operation was carried out in coordination with other security forces following complaints from local residents.
In a statement, Raparin police said the campaign focused on motorcycles that had been causing disturbances in public areas. Authorities also stopped vehicles with blacked-out windows or missing license plates and seized several unlicensed weapons during the operation.
Police said the campaign is ongoing and confirmed that several motorcycles have already been confiscated.
The operation in Qaladze comes less than two weeks after a similar crackdown in Rawanduz, where authorities responded to growing public frustration. District Commissioner Ahmed Qadir said residents had raised concerns about unregistered motorcycles creating excessive noise, emitting smoke, and being driven recklessly through residential areas.
