Sudani leads meeting on banking reform measures

BAGHDAD, October 16 — On Sunday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired a meeting to discuss banking reform measures, with the presence of the Central Bank Governor and directors of government banks. He emphasized that financial reform is not merely a slogan, but a series of terms and actions the government is resolutely committed to executing without hesitation.

The Sudanese Office released a statement, a copy of which was received by the 964 network:

“As part of his oversight of the plan to implement financial and administrative reforms in the financial and banking sectors, Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani chaired an evening meeting today, which included the Central Bank Governor and directors of government banks. During this meeting, they deliberated on the procedures and mechanisms in place to achieve banking reform, which constitutes one of the fundamental steps in the government’s executive agenda for economic and financial reform.

He affirmed that financial reform is not just a slogan but a collection of terms and actions the government is unwaveringly committed to executing, ready to confront any challenges and obstacles that impede the progress of these well-thought-out reform plans.

The Prime Minister directed the streamlining of all banking procedures and the preparation of a proposed list of simplifications and streamlined procedures to be presented within a week. Furthermore, he requested a summary of the obstacles hindering the banking reform process, along with proposed effective and executable solutions, aimed at helping overcome the conventional practices that have been obstructing the government’s goal of advancing this significant economic and service sector.”
