Kirkuk family killed in Altun Kupri road crash

KIRKUK — Four members of the same family — a man, a woman, and their two children — lost their lives in a crash on the Altun Kupri-Kirkuk road, eyewitnesses told 964media.

According to a witness at the scene, a heavy truck lost control and struck a Mitsubishi pickup, killing all four passengers inside. “The driver of the pickup was a man, with his wife sitting beside him and their two children in the back. It was a horrific sight, we retrieved all the bodies and transferred them to an ambulance,” the witness said.

Another witness noted details of the crash: “The pickup was parked beside the road and not in motion when the truck collided with it,” he said. A second eyewitness added, “I saw the truck approaching at high speed before it veered off the road and collided with the pickup.”

The victims, who were from Baghdad, were traveling between Kirkuk and Erbil when the collision occurred. Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the incident.
