University student killed, 13 injured in traffic crash
MAYSAN — A university student was killed and 13 others injured in a traffic incident on the Al-Majar–Al-Qala’a Al-Salih Road in Maysan Governorate on Saturday, security sources said.
The incident occurred when a minibus carrying female university students from Amarah was forced off course by a truck, causing the vehicle to veer into a median and strike an electricity pole.
The minibus driver survived and is under investigation, while the truck driver fled the scene, the source added.
A medical official told 964media that Al-Qala’a Al-Salih Hospital received the body of the deceased student and treated 13 others for injuries, with three students in critical condition transferred to Al-Sadr Hospital in Amarah.
