Halabja charity bike-sharing project launched in Khurmal subdistrict
HALABJA — A new charitable bicycle-sharing project has been launched in the Khurmal subdistrict of Halabja to provide free bicycles for public use, according to project supervisor Luqman Hama Saeed.
As part of the first phase, 30 bicycles have been placed at a designated station in front of the Khurmal subdistrict building. Residents can borrow the bikes for daily use and return them to the same station.
Saeed told 964media that the project was conceived by Dr. Mohammed Khani and funded by local investor Haji Tahir Sargati. In addition, the Halabja Tourism Directorate has assigned a staff member to oversee the borrowing and return process.
He added that based on public demand, more bicycles and stations could be added in the future, along with other activities.
Khani said, “Bicycles in today’s world are a tool for environmental preservation and a means of creating a peaceful atmosphere. This project is a symbol of that effort.”
