Elevator failure at Duhok apartment building injures nine
DUHOK — An elevator carrying nine people fell from the eighth floor of a residential project in the Etite neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, injuring all occupants, with three sustaining severe injuries.
Haysam Barbhari, spokesperson for Duhok’s 122 Emergency Health Center, told 964media, “At noon today, Saturday, an elevator in one of Duhok’s residential projects in Etite neighborhood fell from the eighth floor.”
Authorities have not yet officially announced the cause of the accident, though an overload is suspected.
“The elevator had nine people inside, all of whom were injured,” he said. “Three of them sustained severe injuries and were transferred to the emergency department at Azadi Hospital.”
Some of the injured suffered broken limbs, while the others sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition.
