Choman teen dies after motorcycle crashes into river

CHOMAN — A 16-year-old student lost his life after the motorcycle he was riding fell into the Choman River, local authorities reported Monday.

The Soran Traffic Directorate stated that the “motorcycle went out of control and overturned”, causing the rider along with his motorcycle to fall into the river. The incident occurred near the Nawpirdan village in the Choman district, part of Soran Autonomous Administration.

“We urge drivers and motorcyclists to reduce their speed and adhere to traffic signs and guidelines for everyone’s safety,” a statement from the Soran Traffic Directorate read.

The Directorate of Civil Defense in Soran confirmed that the rider’s body, a resident of Choman, was retrieved from the river by their teams.
