Kidnapping foiled in Baghdad with victim rescued within 30 minutes

BAGHDAD — Iraqi security forces successfully rescued a kidnapping victim and arrested the perpetrators within 30 minutes after setting an ambush in the Kamaliya district in eastern Baghdad, authorities announced on Saturday. The operation also led to the seizure of weapons and a Hyundai Elantra vehicle used in the crime.

“With high-level intelligence efforts and after receiving reports of a kidnapping, a joint task force from the 1st Federal Police Division was immediately formed,” said Baghdad Operations Command in a statement. “The team proceeded to the specified location, analyzed surveillance footage, and tracked the suspects’ movements. Through this, the kidnappers’ hideout was identified, and they were lured into a well-executed ambush where they were caught red-handed.”

The operation resulted in the swift rescue of the hostage and the arrest of the two suspects. Security forces confiscated a Hyundai Elantra without license plates, two rifles, and one pistol.
