‘Diyala Paints for Love and Peace’: over 75 artists showcase talent in annual exhibition

DIYALA — Over 75 visual artists showcased their works at the third annual exhibition organized by the Artists Syndicate in Diyala under the theme “Diyala Paints for Love and Peace.”

Held in the historic Saray building in central Baquba district, the exhibition featured a variety of artistic styles, including realism, modern art, portraiture, and Arabic calligraphy, along with sculptures and live musical performances.

Muaid Al-Mandlawi, Head of the Visual Arts Division at the Diyala Artists Syndicate, told 964media, “More than 75 artists participated in this exhibition, presenting works across modern and realistic schools, portrait art, and Arabic calligraphy.”

The exhibition opened with a large audience and a delegation from the Artists Syndicate. “This event significantly contributes to advancing artistic activity in Diyala,” Al-Mandlawi emphasized.

Zainab Al-Arkawazi, a visual artist from Khanaqin district, Diyala, also shared her view with 964media, stating, “This exhibition serves as a meeting point for artists from Diyala and various regions, promoting peace and fostering artistic and intellectual exchange.”

She added, “It successfully brought together diverse areas of Diyala, creating a carnival-like atmosphere of harmony.”

Zainab Al-Arkawazi further mentioned that visual art continues to thrive despite challenges, but that it needs “greater attention and support” from the government.

Ayat Khalil, a participating painter, stated, “I contributed a surreal artwork representing women. The exhibition features other exceptional pieces, full of creativity and beauty. Experiencing the artwork in person is vastly different from viewing it on a screen, as the spiritual essence of the paintings transcends and offers a deeper connection to the artist’s vision.”
