One killed, two injured in suspected Akre family dispute

DUHOK — A longstanding social dispute erupted into violence in the Azadi neighborhood of Akre district, Duhok governorate, on Wednesday evening, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

According to local authorities, the clash occurred between two families who are relatives. The incident, which escalated into a deadly altercation, resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man. Nechirvan Fakhradin, spokesperson for Akre’s Health Directorate, told 964media, “A young man, aged 25, lost his life due to the altercation. His body has been taken to the forensic medical center in Akre for examination.”

The fight, which broke out shortly after noon, involved two extended families connected by kinship. Local police reported that the suspects fled the scene, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
