Cultural week continues in Souq Al-Shuyukh with music, fashion, and folklore
DHI QAR – Families and locals gathered in Souq Al-Shuyukh, Dhi Qar, for the ongoing Cultural Week Festival, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Souq Al-Shuyukh Youth Forum. The event features more than 40 cultural and artistic activities, including music, theater, poetry, bazaars, exhibitions, traditional fashion, and folklore dances.
Asaad Al-Mutairi, supervisor of the Souq Al-Shuyukh Youth Forum, told 964media, “The Cultural Week Festival in Souq Al-Shuyukh marks the launch of diverse cultural events encompassing arts, literature, theater, and heritage.”
He added, “The aim of these activities is to explore this diverse range of events, foster cultural exchange, and showcase creative products in the city of literature and culture, Souq Al-Shuyukh.”
The festival’s events include bazaars, fine art exhibitions, poetry recitals, and fashion shows, alongside collaborations with the College of Archeology and outdoor activities at the Hor Al-Wada marshes, according to Mustafa Al-Saeedi, one of the festival organizers.
“The festival features over 40 activities celebrating the artistic and cultural diversity of the region,” Al-Saeedi said.
The opening day witnessed a vibrant turnout from families, government officials, and local residents, according to Muhannad Al-Sahlani, director of youth and sports for Dhi Qar. He praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports for selecting Dhi Qar as the festival’s host and emphasized the positive impact of the initiative.
“The opening was well-received by the local government, families, and people of the district and province,” Al-Sahlani said. “Its success will enhance the province’s cultural reputation.”
The festival will continue until Friday, offering residents and visitors a variety of opportunities to engage with the region’s rich cultural and artistic traditions.
